The River

The book I read is called The River. The author is Gary Paulson. The character I chose to characterize is Bryan, he was the main character in this book. There are many things you can describe Bryan by. One of his traits is being brave. The reason that I say he is brave is because he is willing to go back out in the wild after he was already in it for a long time and he suffered. Another characteristic he has is being determined. After Derek was shocked by lightning he was sure that he was going to take himself and Derek down the river on a raft. Also Bryan is very smart. The reason behind me saying this is that he was able to survive in the wild by himself for months. Bryan is quick to react. When Derek was struck by lightning Bryan knew what to do, he checked if he was breathing and everything. He realized he was breathing and was ok. Bryan is also very helpful. I say he is helpful because he was willing to run the extra mile for certain things. When Derek went into that coma Bryan wasn't going to leave him behind. So Bryan took him with and went down the river on a raft. Bryan is Resourceful. He is resourceful because everything he sees he usually thinks of it as something he can use to survive. He is also inventive. He has an open mind and nothing is overlooked. He can make spears out of a long stick and sharp stones. He also made a bow and arrow from a stick and a shoelace string that he had with him. He also made some shoes for the snow out of animal skins. He also made a vest out of animal skins. I think that Bryan is very tough. I think this because someone tried to pick a fight with him and his "animal" instincts took over and he beat that guy really bad. I also think he is tough because he was able to be out in the wild for several months and survived. He's is also very confident. He is confident because when he gets in trouble or has a minor setback, he knows that it is not the end and he can still somehow find a way out of it. These are just some of the characteristics that Bryan has.

  1. You've done a nice job with Bryan here. You've also used textual support. I'd like to see you organize this into paragraphs.

Part 2 - missing?? Where is part two?
